Things You Don't Want to See.

This section is for the little oops in life that seem to come along. Sometimes the pictures will be all that’s needed, sometimes, a few more words of explanation will help.

This delightful item is a Chinese made 6-32 tap. This is after I tapped one hole in aluminum. I really couldn’t tell the difference in the feel, so I suspect that this is one that they didn’t harden at all. The hole was only 1/2 inch or so deep, so that’s not the real problem.

Gives one a warm fuzzy feeling about the rest of the tools, now doesn’t it?

This lovely item is a 1/4 inch TiN drill. I noticed that it was not cutting at all well, so I thought it needed sharpening. Now I’m using a drill doctor to sharpen, and the problem is not in the machine, either the first or second sharpening. Look at how rough it is from the sharpening operation itself. I guess the steel they used is just not high quality. Oddly enough, the other drills in the set are, so far, acceptable.
